From our QG friends over at the Huffington Post:

NBC News is allegedly planning to pay “Today” co-host Ann Curry $10 million to exit the morning show she’s been on for fifteen years, the New York Post reported on Monday.

Citing entertainment gossip website TMZ, the Post reported that the network is nearing a settlement with Curry, who was one year into her reported three year contract with “Today.” The network will reportedly name a replacement for Curry in the coming week.

The announcement would come just one week after the New York Times reported that the network was planning to replace Curry, after only one year as co-host.

Since Curry ascended to the top spot on the show, she has experienced a barrage of negative press, criticizing her chemistry with co-host Matt Lauer, her overall performance, and holding her responsible for the “Today” show’s ratings troubles.

In an unfortunately timed interview with Ladies Home Journal, in which excerpts were released one day following the New York Times story, Curry spoke candidly about dealing with the negative press. She said she wonders, “Am I not good enough?” Curry also disclosed that she’d like to remain on the show for five, possibly ten more years.

Though the network has not yet announced a replacement, Curry’s “Today” show colleague Savannah Guthrie is widely rumored to succeed her. Guthrie joined “Today” as the 9:00 a.m. hour co-host last June.

What? Bump out the divine Ann for the newbie? Sounds like NBC is opting for going 100% lo-fi and dingy pushing out the one person that gives the Today Show some aire of adult communication… well, if it’s true and Ann Curry does take the 10M and run like the wind, we can bet CNN or HBO have something fabulous in store for this dynamic and beautiful news pro.
