OMG. So we have our own 20-something memories of dancing to “Stand Back” and “Rhiannon” and of course, rocking out with our girlfriends singing in the car at the very top of our lungs to “Go Your OWn Way,” so to hear that gypsy vixen songstress Stevie Nicks has confirmed a Fleetwood Mac tour well… Wee!!! Ok, we’ve calmed down now, realizing the aging rockers won’t probably be nearly as powerful as they once were (i.e., Linsey Buckingham spoofs on SNL) but we LOVE these group of musicians and we’ll be forking over the bucks to get to see them join together just one last time.
Brit online pub Mail Online has some scoop here;
Fleetwood Mac are reuniting to tour in 2013 (yep, we got that part).
The Chain group – featuring Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks – are will play their first shows since 2009, Stevie confirmed today.
When asked if the band would tour again, she told US news channel CBS: ‘Next year, so far. It’s the plan. Because that’s what we do.
‘I do my [solo] thing. And Lindsey is out doing his [solo] thing now. Everybody’s on board.’The move comes just months after drummer Mick said he never thought the band would never tour again, due to his bandmates’ solo careers. He said: ‘I don’t believe Fleetwood Mac will ever tour again, but I really hope we do. We have rehearsed it and prepared for it since 2010.
‘I played drums on most of Stevie’s album, the one she is still out there supporting and the one that is the reason that, for now, she refuses to do a Fleetwood Mac tour. It comes down to her.’
Stevie also spoke about the recent suicide of the band’s guitarist Bob Welch, telling of her shock and upset.
She said: ‘I couldn’t even imagine that anything could be so bad as to cause that. And I just feel very, very bad that somebody could have been that miserable to do something that crazy.
‘So I can’t even tell you what in the world would have pushed him to do something that crazy.’The British-American band were formed in 1967 in London. Nicks joined with then boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham in 1975. Their album Rumours sold 40 million and topped the U.S. chart for seven months, but their stardom was blighted by cocaine-fuelled excess.
No worries though, everyone remaining in this legendary band is sane, healthy and eager to bring it to the fans in 2013 – will you be there?
