Every year the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) honors performers by presenting 13 awards for acting in film and television. Applauded for it’s style, simplicity and genuine warmth, The SAG Awards kicked off the Award season by announcing the nominees for the 18th Annual award ceremony.
This eclectic list of nominees appeals to the movie buff or sitcom queen in all of us a few of our favorites on the list.
Viola Davis received rave reviews for her role as Abileen Clark in “The Help” so we’re happy that she was nominated for an outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role. Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe was nominated for the same category for her work in “My week with Marilyn”. I haven’t seen the film yet, but I hear she does an amazing job in the film.
Melissa McCarthy as Megan in “Bridesmaids” and Octavia Spencer as Minny Jackson in “The Help” both get our vote for outstanding performance by a female in a supporting role.
The ensembles for both “Bridesmaids” and “The Help” received a nomination as Outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture.
Now for television…
Longtime Diva Kathy Bates was nominated for an outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama series for her role as Harriet Korn in “Harry’s Law”. Outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series nominees include fan favorite Glee.
