From Working Mothers Magazine, Melissa McCarthy, one of this year’s most powerful Mom’s!

Melissa McCarthy may have played second fiddle for much of her acting career—in TV’s Gilmore Girls, Samantha Who? and The Nine—but that’s all in the past for this actress after her breakthrough role in Bridesmaids last year. She scored an Oscar nod for her role as Megan, the hilarious, bawdy sister-in-law. Critics called McCarthy a scene-stealer in the hit film, which also starred SNL alums Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph. On television, McCarthy headlines CBS’ Mike & Molly, for which she received an Emmy Award in 2011.

Busy as she’s been, 2012 is heating up even more for this mom of two, who will star in Judd Apatow’s This is 40, a sequel to his hit film Knocked Up, as well as in ID Theft alongside Jason Bateman. McCarthy is also writing and producing an upcoming CBS pilot, which will star her husband, actor Ben Falcone.

As for what it is like being a busy working mother, McCarthy recently said, “It’s looney! But it’s the same as any working mom or parent. It’s so fun that it’s worth it.”
