Be a savvier curvy girl – a few QG Weekly Dish no-no’s to watch for!

Inspired by Redbook Magazine and their “fashion mistakes most women make” post, this gave QG the idea of listing a few little mistakes that we have seen us curvier gals make from time to time. Now let us say here before you get all up in a tizzy, we do realize fashion like art is subjective, but there are a few points we can all take to heart when we want to shine our brightest in our most fun and fashion forward styles;

Continuing to wear clothes that just don’t fit. This is a common no-no by many a plus size girl. There is nothing will make you look worse than wearing clothes you’ve had to force yourself into or equally choosing to go super baggy. You’re curvy and we’re all proud of it, so take some time to buy items that play up your shape not take away from it. BTW, our Queen Grace Serena dress is perfect for this, it hugs and accentuates in all the right places!

Buying it just because it comes in your size. Clothes are a reflection of your personality and the excuse that it fits does not mean that you should be putting your cute little tush in it! Knowing the fashion statement that expresses YOU you is so important.

Wearing the wrong bra size. Argh this is everywhere! This “oops” is for all females but curvy women with bigger breasts make this mistake far, far to much. Getting measured by a professional and keeping in mind 80% of support comes from the band not the straps. That sexy decolletage of yours should be enhanced and shown off gracefully and without that icky squeezed in, strap-bruising appearance under your blouses, tops and dresses.

Not having a wardrobe. It’s perfectly OK to mix and match your clothes but if that closet of yours is full of onesies that you picked up on sale, inherited from a friend, a stash of special occasion dresses, too many mom jeans…. then you don’t have a wardrobe as much as stockpile of individual pieces you can’t really maximize. Start with basics; white blouse, black skirt, black pants, a few nicer tees for layering, statement blouses (like our QG Annie) and one or two dresses you can wear day or night. Then you can add to enhance these staples.

Impulse shopping. All too common and risky! Using charged emotions to shop instead of approaching shopping with a plan to build a solid foundation for your clothes and lingerie not only wastes a TON of money but leave you with a closet full of clothes you won’t wear (can you can orange tiger striped blazer?).

These mentions are really oversights by most of us, and doing a few key things to adjust the way you think about how you choose styles can be super useful. Plus size fashion being in the forefront of the industry is new even to plus size women in the business; making due with clothing that was just bigger versions of smaller designer fashions created a culture of confusion for too long. QG WD is confident you’ll get it together, with all our own designs for you to choose from and so many other great options, it’s getting much more fun to shop as a curvy fashionista!

With a little foresight and patience every plus size woman can head out for her day looking her very best.
